Fun Family Days

This past weekend I took the kids the Nana and Papa's house. We had family coming from Texas and California, so we couldn't miss out on the opportunity to spend time with family. Ro, my mother-in-law, came up to Salt Lake on Wednesday, then on Thursday we all traveled down to Parowan. She was worried about me traveling down with the kids by myself, since Mike couldn't come until Saturday. How sweet is that? On the way down Michael got car sick and threw up. Yay! Lucky for us Ziploc bags aren't good for just storing fresh foods, we always have some in hand when traveling. What a great idea!
We got there and the kids immediately start playing on the swing set. See how much fun the monkey's are having.
Michael, Emily, and Alex

Emily's mouth is always wide open!

Papa decided he needed to plant more corn on the cob. It's Alex's favorite and since we didn't get hardly any last year Papa said he'd plant extra for us this year! Yumm!

Doesn't this remind you a little of the movie Second Hand Lions?

The next day the family started rolling in. Uncle Ed and Mimi came from Texas with their two grandkids Gilly and Liam. Cousin Denna and Richard came from California with their grandson Jack.
After stuffing our faces with yummy burritos, Uncle Ed took all the kids to the Dairy Freeze down the block for ice cream. Papa always says, "That's the advantage to living a small town."

Alex and Uncle Ed coming back from eating ice cream. Alex had 2 ice cream cones. Gilly just couldn't seem to finish hers. We can always count on Alex to finish up the leftovers.

Here they come freezing cold from all the ice cream. Uncle Ed had to carry Alex across the street, he must have been too full to walk.

Gilly and Emily, new Best Friends. They were so cute together all weekend. They were immediately best friends and were holding hands, swinging, talking, and playing like they'd known each other forever.

"Thank you, Uncle Ed!" Alex, Liam, Uncle Ed, Gilly, Michael, Megan, Emily.

Gilly brought a new manicure set with lots of different colors of finger nail polish. Mimi said they needed the older cousins help so here they all are outside painting finger nails.
Emily, Kimmy, Megan, Karly, Kaitlyn, and Gilly.
Now lets switch and let the little girls paint the bigger girls finger nails. What a great idea!

Megan and Karly get blue polish with sparkles

Emily and Kimmy get purple polish with sparkles

Gilly and Kaitlyn get pink polish with sparkles

See how pretty they all are!!!
Saturday we went to the car show and saw great old cars that had been restored. Unfortunately my camera got wet and wouldn't turn on anymore. The kids played on the swing set at the park and Mimi and Nana bought all the kids marshmallow shooters. They had such a good time in the yard shooting each other with marshmallows.
Mike made it just in time for dinner, steak and potatoes, Mike's favorite.
We went home Sunday morning and poor Emily cried all the way to the freeway. She made a new best friend and didn't want to leave! Keep in touch Gilly!
Lucky for me the camera finally dried out and actually turned on to download pictures. Hopefully it still works, if not I guess I'm just have to upgrade my camera. Darn it!

  1. That is such a great strategy (ruining things so you can get a new one). We just put new sod in and since we didn't have ANY other tool to use in cutting the sod I decided it would be okay to use our cheap steak knives we have had since we got married. Oh well, I guess we will just have to buy new ones.
