Building a Playhouse

Emily's second wish from Make-A-Wish was a playhouse so we saved some money from our Disney world trip and decided we could grant her second wish, with Grandpa's building expertise. We looked around at other playhouses that were for sale and made a plan of what kind of playhouse we wanted to build. Grandpa is great at building things, especially without any plans and only a picture in our head. We went to work. The whole family got involved.

Mike, Michael, Alex, Emily, and Grandpa building the frame in the garage.

Michael's job was to tighten the bolts.

Emily got to help tighten the bolts also.

We had to pound the bolts in with a mallet. Alex thought this was the best part and wanted to hammer everything. He loves tools. The neighbors kept asked Michael to come out and play with them but he refused. He was sticking around until the project was done. He loves to build things.

We had the framing all done, floor on, and railing up within a few days. We went to Parowan and Pop gave us some shingles to finish up the roof. Nice view!

Grandpa and Mike putting the shingles on the roof. It took us a while since we had to keep running in from the rain. But we finally got the job done, a little wet but done!

We even built a fun rock wall to climb on. The kids love to climb!

Here's the finished project!

Now we are ready to play! Alex climbing the wall!

The slide is much faster at this slope. Emily and Alex sliding down the slide.

Grandpa built our swing set the previous year, again with no plans and just a picture in mind. He's really good at building things! We decided the end of the monkey bars was a perfect place for the playhouse! Thanks Dad for all your hard work and great building sense!! We LOVE our swing set and playhouse!!
